Goringe Auditors Limited — a new subsidiary of Goringe Accountants — became official auditors in December 2013.
The ICAEW — one of the bodies that govern financial audits in the UK — awarded the Goringe Auditors team a registration certificate, which means they’re now qualified to offer audits of financial statements.
Nicky Goringe Larkin, Founder and Managing Director comments:
In the past, we’ve partnered with other auditors to provide audit services to our clients. More and more of our new clients are requiring audits. We’re also seeing an increased demand from subsidiaries of larger groups and specialist solicitor or estate agent audits, who require audits for their client accounts.
Jacqui Waring, who underwent her accountancy training in the audit department at Deloitte, is heading up the new subsidiary. Having gained her ACA accounting qualification in 2007, she completed sufficient hours of statutory auditing to receive her ICAEW audit qualification.
Jacqui comments:
An audit is an exacting process, with each material line of the financial statements being checked. As well as using CCH auditing software, this also means visiting the premises of the company being audited to carry out sample checks to ensure the figures are accurate.
As auditors, we’re now in a unique position to understand our clients’ financials. By adding auditing to our portfolio of services, we have a complete picture and can offer suggestions on where our clients could improve systems or put in better controls.
To retain this ICAEW Auditor status, Jacqui and the team will have to keep their knowledge up to date through continued professional development (CPD).
Jacqui concludes:
We’re regulated by the ICAEW, so from time to time they’ll review our procedures and audit files to check we’re meeting the relevant regulations.
